WHAT IS NEUR DIVERSITY

Neurodiversity refers to the natural variation in neurological, psychological, and social processes that shape human functioning and behaviour. Rather than being confined to a subset of overlapping diagnoses, neurodiversity encompasses a wide range of traits and characteristics that present uniquely across individuals. These traits reflect diverse ways of perceiving, processing, and interacting with the world, highlighting the strengths and contributions of varied neurocognitive profiles. By viewing neurodiversity as an expression of human diversity, it moves beyond deficit-based models to celebrate the richness and adaptability of individuals, emphasizing the importance of context in understanding and supporting their unique capacities.
